Overview

What this machine does

Transfers and elevates bulk plastic pellets, regrind flakes, powders, and mineral fillers between storage, mixing, and processing stations.

The Industrial Screw Conveyor (auger conveyor / screw elevator) provides reliable, dust-tight mechanical transfer and elevation for plastic powders, mineral fillers, polymer pellets, and recycled regrind flakes. Engineered with a heavy-duty continuous helical auger screw housed within a fully enclosed tubular or U-trough casing, it delivers positive-displacement bulk conveyance across horizontal, inclined, and steep-angle configurations between storage silos, bag-dump stations, mixers, and compounding extruder feeding hoppers.

Unlike pneumatic conveying systems that require high-volume compressed air or vacuum blowers and separate dust filtration receivers, screw conveyors provide a compact, low-maintenance mechanical solution that operates without risk of material segregation or filter bag blinding. With variable-frequency drive (VFD) speed regulation, quick-release cleanout hatches, and multiple flight metallurgy options, it ensures consistent, spillage-free transfer across compounding, recycling, and masterbatch processing facilities.

Continuous Heavy-Duty Helical Flighting

Precision-formed continuous cold-rolled helical spiral flights welded to a heavy-gauge central mandrel tube. Dynamically balanced to eliminate rotational vibration, providing high-efficiency positive-displacement conveyance without crushing delicate pellets or degrading powder quality.

Dust-Tight Enclosed Tubular / U-Trough Casing

Fully sealed cylindrical tube or U-trough fabricated with continuous smooth interior welds and silicone/EPDM gasketed flanges. Guarantees 100% dust-tight containment of ultra-fine mineral fillers and micro-pellets, preventing environmental contamination and fugitive dust emissions.

Features a bottom quick-release cleanout slide gate, reverse auger jogging control, and optional hinged U-trough inspection covers. Enables full trough cleanout and zero cross-batch contamination during rapid color or polymer changes.

Material and process

Where it fits — and where it does not

Read the conditions together: a machine is selected for the material and the output, not from its name alone.

Materiales y condiciones adecuados

Optimized for mechanical transfer and elevation of free-flowing and semi-free-flowing polymer pellets, regrind flakes, masterbatches, and dry powder additives (calcium carbonate, talc, titanium dioxide, flame retardants, stabilizers). Compatible with virgin and recycled resin streams including PP, PE, HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PS, PC, PET, and PVC dry-blends.

Particularly suitable for short-to-medium distance straight-line conveying (horizontal up to 12 meters, or inclined angles up to 45°–60°). Extensively utilized to transfer mixed batches from ribbon blenders or vertical mixers into extruder feed hoppers, or elevate bulk materials from floor-level bag dump stations to storage silos.

Limitaciones y cuándo no aplica

Mechanical bulk transfer auger; key engineering boundaries include:

  • Straight-line routing only: Limited to straight horizontal or inclined runs up to 8–12 m; cannot negotiate multi-axis pipe elbows (requires pneumatic conveying).
  • Incline capacity derating: Capacity derates above 20° incline; steep angles (>60°) require vertical elevators or spiral vibratory towers.
  • Bulk transfer vs. metering: Transfers bulk volume to replenish hoppers; does not replace loss-in-weight gravimetric feeders for precise recipe dosing (±0.5%).
  • Abrasive fillers & soft elastomers: Glass fibers or quartz require hardened alloy liners; tacky un-dusted elastomers risk smearing in flight clearances.

Condición y requisitos de alimentación

Accepts free-flowing and semi-free-flowing bulk solids, including virgin polymer pellets, regrind flakes, powder additives, and mineral fillers (calcium carbonate, talc, titanium dioxide, flame retardants, zinc stearate). Bulk density typically ranges from 0.25 kg/L to 1.8 kg/L.

Infeed must be free of metallic tramp contamination, uncrushed solid purge lumps, or tramp wire that could jam between the auger flights and the casing wall. For cohesive powders prone to rat-holing, the conveyor charging hopper should be equipped with an integrated bridge-breaker agitator or pneumatic vibrator.

Condición y límites de salida

Delivers a continuous, pulse-minimized stream of bulk material directly into secondary processing targets, including compounding extruder feed hoppers, loss-in-weight feeder bins, vertical/horizontal mixers, packaging silos, or big-bag filling stations.

Discharge velocity is smoothly regulated via VFD drive; minimal material holdup remains in the casing when operated in reverse purge mode at batch termination.

Throughput

Rango de capacidad

Read a figure together with the basis below it: the same machine reaches different numbers on different materials.

1.5–10 Ton/Hour

Base de las cifras de capacidad

Throughput ratings represent continuous mechanical volumetric delivery (typically 0.5 m³/h to 25 m³/h, scaling to approx. 300 kg/h up to 15,000 kg/h depending on bulk density). Ratings are established under steady charging conditions with a nominal 45% trough/tube loading fill ratio. Incline angles reduce conveying efficiency: horizontal conveyance operates at 100% baseline capacity, while a 30° incline delivers approximately 70%–75% efficiency, and a 45° incline delivers approximately 55%–60% efficiency due to gravity fallback.

Selection

How to choose a model

Work through what you already know. The rest is settled in the conversation, not before the first message.

Follow these engineering guidelines when selecting and sizing an industrial screw conveyor:

  • Incline Angle vs. Effective Capacity: Always factor in incline derating when sizing tube diameter and screw speed. A conveyor rated for 5 m³/h on the horizontal will only deliver approximately 2.8–3.2 m³/h at a 45° incline. Increase screw diameter or flight pitch rather than running at excessively high RPM to compensate for incline losses.
  • Material Abrasiveness & Contact Metallurgy: For standard polyolefin pellets and masterbatch, polished SUS304 delivers long service life and zero contamination. For compounding formulations containing > 20% CaCO3, talc, or glass fiber, specify hardened flights (Hardox 450 or tungsten carbide cladding) and thicker-wall casing.
  • Shafted vs. Shaftless: Select standard center-shafted screws for free-flowing powders, pellets, and rigid regrind. Specify a shaftless spiral design for stringy shred, film flakes, or cohesive materials prone to wrapping around a center shaft.
  • Sanitization & Recipe Frequency: If recipes change multiple times per week with high-contrast colors, select a U-trough design with clamp-on covers and bottom flush gates for rapid cleaning. For dedicated lines running fine mineral powders, fully enclosed cylindrical tubes provide the ultimate dust-tight containment.
